Funeral service for James D. "J.J." Johnson, 88, of Danville, will be Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Enon Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Ledbetter and Bro. Chris Godbee officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson will lie in state for 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the church.

Mr. Johnson died November 23, 2025. He was born March 12, 1937, in Lawrence County to Biddie Lee Johnson and Muriel Sullivan Johnson. He retired from Copeland where he worked in maintenance. He was a loving father and grandfather and was an avid outdoorsman that loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church and enjoyed southern gospel music. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley Coffman Johnson; a daughter, Sonja Johnson Bullard; a grandson, Shane Johnson; three brothers, Wendell Johnson, John Lee Johnson, and Pete Johnson; and three sisters, Opal Ferguson, Margaret Sanderson, and Willene Hensley.

Six Great grandchildren

Pallbearers will be Brian Bullard, Derrick Johnson, Cody Johnson, Blake Dotson, Dusty Johnson, Rickey Mooney, and Josh Mooney.

Honorary pallbearer will be Lawson Slaton.
