James Edward Johnson

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James Edward Johnson, who left us on January 17, 2026, at the age of 61. He was born on July 26, 1964, in Augusta, Georgia.

James graduated from Halls High School and subsequently served six honorable years in the United States Army, embodying the values of dedication and service. After his time in the military, he pursued a career as a welder, a profession through which he expressed his creativity and skill. Known for his easygoing nature and warm heart, James had a profound love for his family and friends. James found joy in the simple pleasures-whether it was engaging in long conversations about Star Wars, feeling the wind rush against him while riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, or spending quiet moments with his beloved cat.

James is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Johnson, daughter, Nicole Danielle Dotson and brother, Steven Marc Wayne Johnson.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by his parents, Jospeh and Linda Johnson; daughter, Samantha Bates; brothers, Michael Johnson and Matthew Johnson; granddaughter, Leah Dotson; and nieces and nephews, Brittni Johnson and Trenton Johnson.

A graveside service will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery on Friday, January 30th at 11am. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Knox Area Rescue Ministries at www.karm.org.
