James L. Kinney
James Kinney, age 74, passed away on March 5, 2022 after suffering a severe cardiac arrest. Born April 19, 1947 in Toledo, OH, James (Jim) was the son of the late Nolan and Lucile Kinney. He was a graduate of Bedford High School in 1965, where he was a member of the band and the football team. One of Jim's first jobs was at Babcock Dairy in Toledo soon after he attended Davis Business School in Toledo and then started his long tenured career as an over-the-road truck driver with Roadway, where he ultimately retired around 2005.
Jim met Terry Helvey later in life (1995) and the two hit it off from the very beginning, then were married in 2002. Jim gained a new family with Terry's three children starting their lives and building their families, eventually having seven grandchildren. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and converted Terry into the same. They enjoyed boating, fishing, feeding the deer, ATV riding, and snowmobiling with their friends. The two eventually built their dream home on the water in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Jim retired after 30 plus years at Roadway and he and Terry permanently moved up to their Northern Michigan home. Recently Jim and Terry relocated to Temperance, MI where they have been for the last couple of years.
Jim is survived by his wife, Terry Kinney, with whom they were due to celebrate their 20th anniversary on April 28, 2022; Terry's daughter, Arlene and her husband, Dominic, of Plano, TX; Terry's son, Jeff and his wife, Jennifer, of Columbus, OH; Terry's son, Todd and his wife, Amanda, of Allen Park, MI.
