James Landrum Obituary

Published by Legacy on Apr. 26, 2024.
A memorial service celebrating the life of James Lee "Jim" Landrum, age 77, of Somerset, will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, at the Kirkersville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville.
Jim was born November 22, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Donald James and Helen Louise (Spurgeon) Landrum. He passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster under the care of Fairhope Hospice.
Jim was a 1964 graduate of Watkins Memorial High School. An excellent athlete, he played baseball, basketball, and football and was later inducted into the Watkins Hall of Fame. Jim retired from Lucent Technologies and following retirement he and his wife loved wintering in Florida for 16 years. In the 90's, Jim was a football coach at Watkins Memorial. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, and they loved hearing his hilarious stories of growing up. Although he wasn't on field, he continued to "coach" his grandkids in each of their sports and through all the hills and valleys of life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn K. (Miller) Landrum, whom he married July 11, 1969; son, Shane (Amanda) Landrum of Nelsonville; daughter, Jill (David) McGee of Crooksville; seven grandchildren, Austin Dearman, Triston Landrum, Marshall McGee, Braxton Landrum Ruggles, Anna McGee, Trason Landrum, and Oaklyn Landrum; brother, Steve (Cheryl) Landrum of Pataskala; sister, Donna Landrum of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Landrum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Perry County Cancer Alliance, P.O. Box 724, New Lexington, OH 43764-0724.
Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service in Kirkersville is honored to care for Jim and his family.
