Fay Jim was foremost in some of my fondest childhood memories, going back as far as little league and all the other sports we shared. I am truly sorry for your loss. May the Lord help you and your family heal as quickly as possible.

I was very sad to hear that Jim passed away. We all have regrets as life passes us by, and Jim was one of them for me. I regret not keeping in touch over the years with Jim as we spent one special summer together my last year in Babe Ruth ball. Jim and I both played on the Cutter Cubs.
There are many who said at that time that the Cubs were the best team who ever played in the Rock Falls Babe Ruth League and Jim was such a great part of that team. There wasn't anything Jim couldn't do on a baseball field. He was the third leading hitter on the team, and had the most victories pitching for us. The Cubs were (16-0) for the season winning the league championship. When the tourney playoffs came, we won the first game, but then lost the semi final game to the Sox (3-2).
Jim pitched that game, and pitched a two hitter. But he never forgot that he gave up that two-run homer to Bill Stanley in the sixth inning for the Sox to win. Jim was very distressed after the game, and as we sat together after the game I told him that he was a winner, and would always be a winner. One game will never determine your standing when it comes to playing baseball, you have many more victories ahead of you in your career. Someday, you will look back and not even remember this game, but instead remember the great season you and I had with the Cutter Cubs. I never got to play with Jim again. He played varsity baseball my junior year, but I was out with tumors in my right foot, and then when I played my senior year, Jim didn't play. As I look back I will always remember Jim as a fantastic competitor not only in baseball, but every sport he played. I was just blessed that God give me one outstanding summer of play with my friend Jim Law.
For Faye and the rest of Jim's family, my thought and prayers go out to all of you. One last thing, I found several pictures of Jim, but I am only allowed to put one up, so it will be a baseball one.
