Mr. James Kevin Leavitt, age 54 of Jacksboro passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023. He was a faithful member of LaFollette Church of God, where he served as a member of the church praise team. James loved to fish, being “Pap” and “Papaw” to his Grandchildren, and just being a help to so many others. His beloved Pastor described him best, “We have lost a brother, friend, comedian, and key singer of our praise team. Our hearts are broken.” Preceded in death by Father, Jim Leavitt, Sisters, Jacque King and Janet Ellison, Special grandmother, Idessa Powell, and Nieces, Jamie Harbin and Jaleesa Ellison.
Survivors: Sons, Christopher Leavitt and Wife, Paige, and James Kevin Leavitt, II; Bonus Daughter, Melanie Phillips; Grandchildren, Kanaan, Havik, Devin, Carson, and Tyson; Mother, Joie Leavitt; Nieces, Devonna Harbin, Katie Marlow, and Savannah Berry; Aunts, Rita Patterson, and Trena Smiddy and Husband, Rev. Ed. Several Cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Friday, May 26, 2023, 7:00 P.M. at LaFollette Church of God with Pastor Michael Dent and James Uncle, Rev. Ed Smiddy officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday before funeral services. Family and friends will meet Saturday, May 27, 2023, 11:30 A.M. at Walters Funeral Home and proceed to Woodlawn Cemetery for 12:00 P.M. Graveside Services and Interment. Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Mr. James Kevin Leavitt.
