James Arthur Lee, age 80 of Dent, passed away on November 7, 2021 at Ecumen Evergreens Senior Living Memory Care of Moorhead, MN. James was born on January 16, 1941 to Harry & Margaret (Hawkinson) Lee in Minneapolis, MN.
James graduated from Dilworth High School in 1959 and attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. He later served in the United States Army and Air Force. James was united in marriage to Lucille Rio on July 6, 1963 and their marriage was blessed with two children. After the military, he worked at several accounting firms in Fargo. In 1984 they moved to West McDonald Lake. He served as treasurer of Dora Township, West McDonald Lake Association, Crystal Beach, Lake Agassiz Pacers, and the Dent American Legion. Jim enjoyed running and completed many marathons and half marathons along with shorter races. He enjoyed being race director for the Perham Turtlefest and Dent Days races.
James is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucille; children, David Lee of Florida, and Debra (Todd) Kirchoffner of Harwood, ND; grandchildren, Nicholas, Alex & Blake Kirchoffner and Timothy Lee; great granddaughter, Airreonna Lee; sister, Vicky (Duane) Palluck of West Fargo, ND; brother, Thomas Lee of Moorhead; cousins, Craig (Lynn) Johnson of Florida and Susan (Hector) Ibarra of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law, LeAnn Lee and Delores Rio; and brother-in-law, Sidney Rio.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 15 at New Creation Lutheran Church in Perham, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment at Calvary Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials preferred to New Creation Lutheran Church of Perham.
