James Lindholm

James Lindholm, 84, passed away at Dougherty Hospice House on Monday, August 5th. Services will be held at 3pm, Friday August 9th at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Wentworth with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Wentworth following the funeral. Jim was born on January 16, 1940, to Elvin and Esther (Weerts) Lindholm. He grew up on a farm outside of Chester and graduated from Chester High School in 1958. After graduation he joined the Air National Guard where he served 2 & 1/2 years before heading west to California. After a short time in California, his mid-western roots brought him back home to South Dakota. Jim spent several years as a mechanic, which he enjoyed and had a talent for! His true passion, however, was farming. He took great pride in the years he spent raising feeder pigs. He especially loved teaching his children and grandchildren everything he knew. Later on in life, Jim returned to his career as a mechanic, eventually retiring from Central States Fire Apparatus. In his retirement years, he always looked forward to his daily trip to Madison to spend time with his dear friends at the VFW. He loved cars, reading and watching westerns, watching and attending High School sporting events, and Old Milwaukee! Jim's children and grandchildren were the light of his life. He never missed an opportunity to tell a story or share a memory.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his first wife, Karen (Hanson) Ceja; Jim and Karen's children: Elvin Lindholm, Sandy Ontiveros, and Donna Errecalde; his second wife, Wanda (Shaffner) Lindholm; Jim and Wanda's daughter: Barbra J. Lindholm; Jim and Wanda's Stepchildren: Billie Jo Lau, ReBecca Salter, Bob Shaffner, and Brian Shaffner; as well as 16+ grandchildren and 30+ great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved Cocker Spaniel, Babe; his parents, and his sisters Jeanette Kirk and Frances Lindholm.
