James Bernard Lorenz

On January 22, 2026, James Bernard Lorenz, age 95 passed away in Harrisonburg, VA where he has resided for the past two years. Born in Smithville, Rhode Island, Bernie lived most of his adult life in Mt. Ephraim, NJ. Bernie served in the US Air Force in the Korean War and after his honorable discharge, he continued his service in the Army National Guard until his retirement after more than 30 years of service to his country. Bernie was a longtime member of the Mt Ephraim American Legion Post 150. He lived a full life with many hobbies; ranging from small airplane pilot, equestrian, private detective, tax preparer, military memorabilia collector and full time Pop-Pop. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the Jersey Shore and the Diner. He will be sorely missed.

Bernie was predeceased by his parents, William and Rose Lorenz as well as his daughter, Jennifer Elwood. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Edith; his grandchildren, Thomas and Cecilia Elwood; his son-in-law, John Elwood; his daughter, Debera Gerondale as well as several nieces, nephews and close friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, February 12th from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at the Healey Funeral Home, 9 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights, NJ 08035 where his Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM following the viewing. Final committal service with military honors will be held at Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ beginning at 12:30 PM in the cemetery CHAPEL.
