Dear Lowry Family - I met Martha and Jim when they took a Smithsonian tour I was working on, and I absolutely loved them. They took several later tours with me, and I was always glad to be with them. They were kind and gentle people, and Jim loved a subtle joke. I'll miss reading his Christmas letters now. But I'll treasure the beautiful photo I have of the two of them in Jackson Hole.

I had the privilege of working with Jim as a pathologist for many years. He was a staff pathologist when I rotated as a resident at Santa Rosa and then a colleague and partner when I later joined the practice. He was a great mentor and a true gentleman. I remember the New Year Eve receptions he would hold at his house for the pathologists in our practice. That event was a great time for comradery, fellowship, and reflection. Both Jim and Martha were extravagant and gracious hosts. Jim's dedication to Santa Rosa and the Sisters of Incarnate Word were well know and outstanding. He was always involved in efforts to promote their mission. My condolences to Lowry family, especially at this time when we are not able to gather with them for support. Jim's presence will be missed but his spirit will live on.

I want express my sympathy to James family, the news came through my friend who like me was a MTASCP. I worked with James for many years while living in San Antonio at Santa Rosa. I have many fond memories and will always be glad he was a part of my medical career. He will be greatly missed and know God has a special place for him.

My Prayers to his family.

Having just learned of Dr. Lowry's passing, I want to express my condolence.

I met him over the years because my mother worked with him at Santa Rosa for many years and they continued to keep in touch over the years; even this past holiday season the would speak over the phone.

I know he had a wonderful life and was always very happy to see my mom and even us kids at birthday events downtown. I am so grateful the he was a big part of my mothers life and know she is both happy and sad for him. As he moves on to his next job, I know he will be just as active in helping God and all children across the world.

My fond prayers and thoughts go to all his family and friends during this time.

Dr Lowry was a client of mine at Carneiro Chumney, CPAs for about 30 years but more recently (or the past 5 years) my wife Elizabeth and I would visit with him several days a week while walking at North Star Mall. He would go out of his way to engage us in conversation and always ask about our more recent trip. He would say don't forget on your next trip to post pictures on FaceBook. We going to miss him - his gentle ways and genuine interest and concern. He was truly a gentleman and a wonderful person.

Jim was one of the kindest individuals I have ever known, and always so considerate about the feelings of other people. He was one of the partners with my father, Norman Jacob, Jr, in their group practice of pathology at Santa Rosa Hospital. My dad once told me that Jim was the one who always made sure that special events such as birthdays were recognized and celebrated. When I became an adult, I still called him "Dr. Lowry" out of respect, until one day he looked at me and said "call me Jim!". He and Martha had a ranch across the fence from us in Poteet, and we enjoyed talking about cattle and the weather, taking a break from medicine. I pray for the Lowry family during this difficult time, and I will surely miss Jim.

The good Doctor was like a second father to many of us that attended Central Catholic with Jimmy. We are blessed with a photo history of our years together and the events that have defined our adulthoods because of Dr. Lowry's camera and keen eye. A day will come soon that all his CCHS friends will gather at Paesanos and share memories, glasses of wine, and a few final Irish Coffees! So glad that he is back in the arms of his treasured wife. He will be missed and loved forever.

The world has lost a great pathologist and lovely gentleman with the passing of Dr. Lowry. He was always so supportive of Eddie and me in our careers as fellow pathologists, and such a delight to visit with in later years. May he rest in the peace and love of God. May you who are left behind be comforted with sweet memories.

I knew Dr. Lowery ( and his lovely wife) from the neighborhood hardware store, then more recently I saw him at the gym. He was such a kind man, and it was always good to see him. I will miss him, but I think he is happier now being with his wife again. Tom Karam
