James Lupardus Obituary

James "Jimmy" Lewis Lupardus
08/03/1960 - 07/24/2025
James "Jimmy" Lewis Lupardus, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Services will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 3:30 p.m.
Jimmy was born on August 3, 1960, to John William Sr. and Sally Lupardus. Jimmy was born and raised in Midland. He was proud to be a Midlander for his entire life. He married his wife, Rhonda, in 1994. They had a total of 36 loving years together.
Jimmy graduated from Robert E Lee High School in 1978. He worked multiple jobs before partnering with his brother in the construction business. He was exceptionally talented at working with wood and made many beautiful pieces for his children.
Jimmy spent time in the bowling community and made life-long friends as he enjoyed the game. He won first place in singles at the Midland Bowling Association Tournament of 2004 with a 763 series. His goal was always to have a higher average than his wife.
Jimmy was extremely enthusiastic about three things - family, golf, and music although not necessarily in that order all the time.
Jimmy came from a family of avid golfers and spent most weekends at Hogan Park. He loved it as days became longer, and he could spend more time on the course. Jimmy had his one and only hole in one on May 7, 1990, hole number 10, at Hogan Park. He enjoyed playing in many tournaments around the Permian Basin with family and friends.
Music was always an important part of Jimmy's life. This ranged from attending concerts to drumming in local bands. His feet and fingers were always tapping away to a beat even if no one else could hear it.
His baking skills will be missed. No one could make holiday pies like Jimmy.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, daughters, Gwendolyn Jernigan and Jesse of Brewer, ME, Rianne Hofstetter and Jeff of Euless, and son Reid Melton and Billie of San Angelo. He was lovingly known as "DOG" (Dear Old Grandad) to six grandchildren, Nick, Sebastien, Darcey, Evan, Cian, and Emilyah. He is also survived by his sister, Jan Lupardus of Midland, brothers, Bill Lupardus and Kathy of Midland, Joe Lupardus and Darlene of Tarpon Springs, FL and Jeff Lupardus and Joyce of Houston. He was also an uncle to several nieces and nephews that he loved very deeply along with many, many friends.
Honorary pallbearers are Reid Melton, Jeff Hofstetter, Jesse Pillittier, John William Lupardus Jr, Joe Lupardus and Jeff Lupardus
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arbor Day Foundation at Arborday.org.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.

What a loss. He was such a fine man. When Rhonda and I did the Relay for Life in 2016 and 2017 as hospital employees he was so helpful to our whole team.
