James L. Mangold, 95, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. He was born May 31, 1930 in Thomas, South Dakota to the late Frank and Alma (Lindauer) Mangold.
James was a driver for A&H Truck Lines for 30 years. He later worked at Colonial Garden Center, Wesselman's and Zeidler's Flowers. James served in the United States Navy. He loved spending time outdoors gardening and camping at Diamond Lake and Pride Creek Park. James was an avid fan of NASCAR, Pacers basketball and Broncos football. He was a member of the Order of the Owls, the Evansville Athletic Club, American Legion and Teamsters Retiree Club. James was also a member of St. Benedict Cathedral.
James is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris (Becker) Mangold; son, James E. "Buddy" Mangold (Ronda Kay); granddaughter, Destiny Renee Mangold; sister, Anna McCarty; nieces and nephews, Rachelle (Eric) Gill, Donnie Becker, Debbie Stucki, Marilyn (Kent) Kramer, Cheryl Thomas, Cindy (Daryl) Johnson, Carlotta Iafrate, Lee (Ellen) Pitlick, Mike, Tim, Steven and Randy Pitlick, Phyllis (Pitlick) Hicks, Sherry Becker, Ryan (Stephanie) Becker, Jerry Mangold, Mary Kay (Jimmy) Schoonover, Brenda Mangold and Kathy Flaharey.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanne Renee Mangold; and son, Kenneth P. Mangold.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. A Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be Monday, December 1, 2025 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Parish-St. Anthony Church, 704 N. First Avenue, Evansville, IN 47710.
