James Russell Marlin

James Marlin, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Wednesday Nov 5, 2025. James was born the son of Hanley and Roberta (Zook) Marlin in Decatur County, Indiana. He served in the US Navy and was stationed offshore in the late 1950s. James attended Butler University and obtained a degree in accounting. James married Peggy Merrill on June 10, 1961, in the Greensburg Baptist Church and they established a home in Southport, IN. Having first acquired employment at Chrysler, he later worked at Link Belt in Indianapolis, where he eventually retired. James was a Murat Shriner on the Transportation committee until the age of 80, where he also volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife Peggy and their son Jeffrey Marlin, as well as his brother John and sister Nancy. He is survived by son Jay Marlin and daughter-in-law Linda.
A private family celebration of his life and burial will be held at a later date, with burial in the Marlin Cemetery in Rossburg, Indiana.
