James E. Martin, 84, of Canton Township, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026.

Born on August 23, 1941, in Alliance, Ohio, James was the beloved son of the late Samuel and Renna (Grant) Martin. He lived a life defined by hard work, ingenuity, a deep love for his family, and an unwavering faith in the Lord.

A jack of all trades and a master of many, James had a lifelong passion for working with his hands. A certified welder with experience in plumbing and electrical work, he took pride in his craft and could tackle nearly any challenge. Those who knew him best would describe him simply as a motorhead — happiest when engines were running and something was being built or fixed.

James cherished every moment with his wife Jean, from peaceful nights fishing in their earlier years to the many adventures they shared along the way. He took great delight in his daughter and granddaughters, whether gathered at cookouts, family parties, or cheering them on at school events.

James loved the Lord deeply and freely and he shared his faith with everyone he met. He has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. He now he rests in his eternal reward in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his infant brother and sister, Gary and Cheryl Martin; and his sister, Barbara Belew.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Jean; daughter, Michelle (Joe) Acierni; granddaughters, Brittany (Cameron) Martin and Seirra Cathey; great-granddaughter, Emerson Michelle Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry his memory forward.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Home, where all services will be held. His funeral service will take place the following day, Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Jeff Caldwell officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Sanders Funeral Home, 218 E. Nassau St., East Canton, Ohio 44730. Family and friends may offer condolences and share memories at:
