James Alvie Massa, Sr., 66, of Hitchcock, Texas passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025 in Hitchcock. He was born on May 25, 1959 to Frank and Jerre Massa.

He had many nicknames over the years: Opossum, Goop and Jamie. Jamie was a resident of Hitchcock and graduated from Hitchcock High School. He worked for ITC as an operator and after 20 plus years he retired. Jamie was an avid lifelong fisherman and hunter. He loved tinkering on his boat, Miss Tilda. He was a man of simple pleasures, enjoying the outdoors, his friends and family's company and a cold beer.

He is preceded in death by his father Frank Massa, brothers; Jerry "Moose" Massa and Jay "Bird" Massa. Jamie is survived by his mother Jerre Sue Massa, brother John Paul Massa, his 3 children: James Massa, Jr., Wendy Massa, and David Massa, and granddaughter Ally Massa.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Hayes Grace Memorial Park under the pavilion with Pastor Richard Rhoades officiating.
