James "Jim" Mayer Obituary James "Jim" G. Mayer of Claypool, Indiana passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the age of 71. Jim shared the following in his own words to summarize what was most important throughout his life and in his heart
"Count Your Blessings. If you are reading this, then my time on Earth has ended.
Instead of writing of any accomplishments I may have had, I'd rather you know how He has blessed me.
My first blessing was when I was born to James and Margaret Mayer (both deceased) on August 7th, 1954.
My next blessing was to already have two siblings, Steve and Barb.
My next blessing was to be given two more siblings, Rod & Scott.
My next blessing was to have grown up in Winona Lake and be able to be a kid. Fish, hunt, pop bottles, shovel walks, run a newspaper route, etc. It was great.
My next blessing was graduating from Warsaw High School in 1972.
Next (and best) was to marry the love of my life, Jan Copeland in July of 1973.
Next, she blessed me with our son Travis Mayer.
He in turn blessed me with the most wonderful Daughter-in-law, Jennifer.
She then blessed me with three beautiful grandchildren, Brayden, Jaicey and Bode. They are my greatest joys of all.
I also have been blessed with so many good friends, I couldn't name them all. A special thanks to Jack, Bobby, Steve and Joe.
For my last blessing, I hope He finds me worthy to enter His golden gates.
I will be waiting on the other side.
God Bless you all!"
Jim will be dearly missed by his son Travis and his wife Jennifer (Roanoke, IN); two brothers, Rod (Shana) Mayer (Warsaw, IN); Steve Mayer (Warsaw, IN); and his sister, Barb Castillo (Cleveland, OH). He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Jan Mayer on June 28, 2024, and his brother, Scott Mayer. Jim's family will celebrate his life and forever remember his legacy of kindness, love and the many memories he left behind. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, Indiana.
