James A. McClellan "Lightning," age 85 of Cloverport, Kentucky returned to his heavenly Father on November 24, 2021. He was born April 12, 1936 in Breckinridge County, Kentucky to the late James and Mary (McGobern) McClellan.
James was a member of Cloverport Baptist Church. He served the church as both an usher and bus driver. He was also a Kentucky Colonel and an avid University of Kentucky fan.
Preceding James in death are his parents; brothers, John "Red" McClellan, Damon McClellan, Larry McClellan and Garland McClellan and sisters, Dell Cahal and Dorothy Smiley. Left to cherish memories of James are his spouse, Mary Eloise (Board) McClellan; son, Harold Wayne (Deana) McClellan of Lewisport, Kentucky; grandchildren, Michael Wayne (Leandra) McClellan of Clarkson, Kentucky, Damon Matthew McClellan of Lewisport, Kentucky, Great grandchildren, Mason Bryant McClellan and Bailey McClellan; brother, McArthur McClellan of Hardinsburg, Kentucky; sisters, Eva Mae Dewitt of Lewisport, Kentucky, Vallery (Ray) Powers of Cloverport, Kentucky, Shirley Robbins of Hardinsburg, Kentucky, Linda Nash of Hardinsburg, Kentucky, Louise Stillwell of Lewisport, Kentucky and Sylvia (Sam) Priest of Hardinsburg, Kentucky; sister in law, Dottie McClellan and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation for James will be held Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 3pm - 8pm at Cloverport Funeral Home. Services for James will be held, Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 1:30pm at Cloverport Baptist Church with burial to follow at Cloverport Cemetery.
