A guiding branch of the McDaniel family tree has gone, yet the legacy of James L. McDaniel continues to bloom through those he loved. James L. McDaniel II, loving husband of Eva Joyce Lowry for 59 years, left his earthly home on his 80th birthday, Saturday, October 25, 2025. James was born in Midway, Ky on October 25, 1945, to the late James L. Sr. and Betty Bowling McDaniel. He was a retired employee of Trane Company where he was a supervisor for 28 years, and a former employee of the City of Nicholasville Water Department for 10 years. If you asked him his favorite activities, he would say fishing, but what he loved most of all was chauffeuring his grandchildren to their many activities, often with quick stop by the "dollar store" on the way.
He enjoyed music, both listening and playing. Playing by ear, he was proficient at the (12) string acoustic guitar and banjo. In addition to his wife, he leaves his memories with sons Jim McDaniel and John Jason McDaniel, who brought into his life 4 grandchildren- Brittany, Jacob, Juliette, Jenna Violet. They in turn gave him 3 great grandchildren- John Ayden Rose (Brittany), Rhett Napier (Brittany), and Evelyn Rose McDaniel (Jacob). He also leaves sisters-in-law Linda Lowry and Sally Lowry and many nieces and nephews with fond memories. His family will greet friends beginning at 4:00 PM and ending at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 29, at Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home with a Graveside Service to follow on Thursday at 1:00 PM in Maple Grove Cemetery with Rev. Steve Gray and John Jason McDaniel officiating. Honoring him as Pallbearers will be his beloved grandchildren. Honorary bearers will be Tommy Willis, Bobby Robinson, Fei Xiong. Johnny McDaniel of Midway and Jimmy McDaniel of Midway. The family suggests donations be made in his memory to the Edgewood Baptist Church, Nicholasville, Ky. This obituary was lovingly submitted by the McDaniel family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home and we extend our sincere sympathies to the McDaniel family and friends.
