Jim Mc Donald, age 80, of Matlock, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at Sanford Hospital in Sheldon. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sheldon. Father Allan Reicks officiating. Burial in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Sheldon. Visitation will be Friday, January 6, from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. Scriptural Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. Parish Rosary at 7:30 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon. James "Jim" Warren McDonald was born on September 26, 1931, in Dundee, Minnesota. He was the son of Emmett and Bertha (Petticourt) McDonald. He lived his youth in the Dundee area where he attended grade school. The family moved to Sheldon, Iowa where Jim attended Sheldon High School. He was united in marriage to Ardiss "Midge" Warner on June 11, 1951, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sheldon, Iowa. Jim worked for Andringa Construction in Sheldon, for many years. Jim and Ardiss raised their family in Sheldon and later retired in Matlock, Iowa. Ardiss passed away on August 7, 1997. He was united in marriage to Sharon Wittrock on May 5, 2001. They lived in Matlock, Iowa. They enjoyed traveling and visiting family, fishing in Minnesota and the Iowa Lakes area, and dancing together. Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and gardening. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sheldon He passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at Sanford Hospital in Sheldon. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife: Sharon McDonald of Matlock, IA; his children: Deb and Bruce Latterell of St. Cloud, MN, Tim and Sandi McDonald of Sheldon, IA, Mike and Marlys McDonald of Fayette, IA, Brad and Shari McDonald of Ankeny, IA, Billi and Todd Roelofsen of Solomon, KS, Matt and Maggie McDonald of Sheldon, IA; step children: Jesse and Espe Lavoie of Iona, MN, Mike and Jean Lavoie of Seattle, WA, Bart and Waty Lavoie of Los Angeles, CA, Leisha Lavoie of Slayton, MN, Lazette and Rich Finley of Sioux Falls, SD; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother: Dan and Marie McDonald of Sanborn, IA; 3 sisters: Kathleen and John Eernisse of Des Moines, IA, Margaret and Eugene Dekker of Casa Grande, AZ, Judy and Bernie Slinger of Casa Grande, AZ; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Ardiss; his parents; one sister: Phyllis Warlock; 2 brothers: Jerry McDonald and Terry McDonald; one infant grandson: Kevin McDonald.
