James McElroy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anthony Funeral & Cremation Chapels - Webster Chapel on Mar. 5, 2026.
Penfield. March 3rd, 2026 at the age of 55. Predeceased by his mother, Diane McElory. Survived by his wife Sara McElroy and his best canine friends, Mouse and Maeve; daughter, Lauren McElroy; father, Richard McElroy; sisters, Terri (Tony) Pecoraro, Kym (Alan) Ulicny; several nieces and nephews; his loving Mariuz family.

Jim was a Navy man through and through. He devoted 10 years of his life serving his country and he was immensely proud of that. For the last almost 18 years Jim was an electronics technician at the USPS, and the friendships he forged there were priceless to him. He was truly an outdoorsman: fishing, birding, hunting, hiking, photography, stargazing and bonfires (except that one time he used gasoline). He was devoted to his family and friends. If they were "friend-shaped" he was all in. If you needed anything all you had to do was call.

Jim was a true Metal-Head. He loved Metallica and concert-going. Many good times were had traveling out of state to music festivals. He even behaved himself on occasion! Jim was a Jeep enthusiast, and his Jeeps were his pride and joy. He loved spending time with his family and looked forward to his yearly Sibling Weekend with his sisters. He loved to "Keep It Fresh" and fancied himself a beer and bourbon connoisseur. He was truly a walking "Mr. Google" and took joy in sharing his vast knowledge (of nearly everything) to anyone who wanted to listen (and even those who didn't).

If you never had the honor of meeting Jim, you missed the opportunity of a lifetime. He made an impact on all those who knew him and his absence will be felt forever.

To you Jim, we raise a toast "Qapla"

A Memorial Service will be held on March 14th, 2026, at 3 pm at the funeral chapel (1031 Ridge Rd., Webster). In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Jim's name to the Wilmot Cancer Institute.
