James (Jim) Patrick McGlynn, 66, of Lime Ridge, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends after a cancer "adventure" on Sunday, February 4th, 2024. Jim was born on July 11, 1957 to Tom & Lauretta "Dimp" (Durst) McGlynn. Jim graduated from Weston High School in 1975. Jim married Lisa (Fry) McGlynn on October 19, 1985 at St. Boniface Church in Lime Ridge.
Jim's marriage to Lisa started rather rapidly as he proposed to her on their very first date. To his surprise, she said yes, and while some thought it wouldn't work, their love for one another resulted in 4 wonderful children, a lot of laughs, and a lifetime of memories.
Jim was always a hard worker; working many different jobs, most involving driving a truck. Many of those trucks required repair and Jim was a very skilled mechanic despite having no formal training. His ability to repair/fabricate was beyond what most could be taught. Jim had a love for tractors, specifically Deutz tractors. He was always on the lookout for more to add to his collection. He passed this love (illness?) for Deutz tractors on to his son Robert. His longest employment was as the Town Patrolman for the Township of Washington in Hillpoint, WI. This job entailed putting up signs, patching and grading roads, plowing snow, and maintaining the township equipment. During the winter, Jim would often work 20+ hours, come home to sleep for 3-4 hours and then return to work for another 20+ hours this would go on for multiple days in a row completely exhausting the coffee supply at the Villa Inn. If Weston ever had to cancel school because of snow, it wasn't because Jim's roads weren't plowed. His work ethic and determination to finish a job was second to none.
Anyone who knew Jim knows that his sense of humor was unrivaled. He could make anyone laugh with his stories, and you never quite knew what he was going to say (definitely a trait he got from his mother). Jim's love for his family and friends was as large as his personality. He made a lasting (albeit sometimes terrifying) impression on every person he met. He was always one to offer help, and rarely (if ever) asked for anything in return. His brother Tad said it best "If you can find a man better than Jim, I'd like to meet him, because I truly don't think one exists." The memories and friendships of Jim will live on forever for those lucky enough to have known him.and somewhere there are some coyote hunters who will never forget the 'crazy man' who chased them off his land despite being unarmed.
He was preceded in death by his father Tom McGlynn Sr., mother Lauretta "Dimp" (Durst) McGlynn, brothers Timothy McGlynn, Tad McGlynn, Joseph McGlynn, sister Molly (McGlynn) Henry, mother-in-law Mary Elizabeth (Wiedenfeld) Fry and Uncle Joseph McGlynn whom Jim loved dearly.
