James L. McGowan

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that James Lawrence McGowan passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2026, in New Port Richey, Florida surrounded by family. Born on September 13, 1951, in Brockton, MA, Jim lived a full and vibrant life spanning nearly 75 years.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret (Penny) McGowan, with whom he shared 53 cherished years. He was a devoted father to his son Paul McGowan, wife Lori McGowan and daughters Kristy McGowan, fiancé Doug Carbone and Kelly McGowan, husband Glenn Logan and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother A. Helene McGowan, bonus sisters Carolyn Oliviere, surviving husband Thomas Oliviere and Valerie Teague, and husband Robert Teague. Jim also took immense pride in being the best grandfather to his four granddaughters, Riley, Ally, Devin, and Kate, a role he embraced with much love and enthusiasm.

Throughout his life, Jim found joy in dancing, playing golf, and being with family. These passions brought him happiness and allowed him to connect with others through shared experiences and laughter.

He enjoyed working at ESI and retired after 25 years of dedicated work.

Jim’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his legacy of love and joy bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 4-7pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 9:30 am, for a funeral mass at 10:30 am, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 435 West Street, Brockton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
