James Patrick McLaughlin

James Patrick McLaughlin, 85, of St. Marys, WV, passed away, February 14, 2026. He was born, March 19, 1940, in Clay, WV, to the late Ralph and Estella Cutlip McLaughlin. He was a graduate of Clay County High School, where he played basketball. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, hunting, gardening, westerns, especially John Wayne, and WVU basketball and football. He was a true WV Mountaineer. He was a member of the St. Marys United Methodist Church. In 1993 he retired from GT as state manager and became papaw. He enjoyed his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Sue McLaughlin, the mother to his children, daughter, Rebecca McLaughlin, brothers, Wilber, Stewart, and Donald, sisters, Nell and Shonette.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Louise McLaughlin, daughter, Lisa McLaughlin, grandson, Brady Munday, stepchildren, Melissa Johnson, and Michael Tallman, and step grandchildren, Derek, Tyler, Sadie Tallman, and Nash Tallman.

Funeral service will be held, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 12 P. M. at the Ingram Funeral Home in St. Marys, WV, with the Rev. Clare Sulget officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasants Memorial Estate in Eureka, WV. Friends may call from 10 to 12 P. M. Saturday at the funeral home.
