James Dean McMath, born September 1, 1931, passed away at his home on December 7, 2018. He was the sixth of eight children born to Zelma and William. He served 4 years in the Air Force during the Korean War, and married Doreen G. McGrath upon his return in 1955. He retired from Michigan Bell after 39 years of service. Jim and his wife proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Anyone who knew Jim would attest that he was the sweetest person that ever lived. Jim will be forever remembered by Doreen, his wife of 63 years; his three daughters, Sandi (Jim) Cocciolone, Karen McMath, and Linda McMath (Steve Salley). Eight grandchildren, Danya (Jason) Stump, Tommy Cox, Jesse (Amber) Winn, Nathan (Jo) Winn, Andy (Kayla) Morris, Marty Morris, Sydney Salley, Jordan Salley, as well as seven great-grandchildren: Madison and Meagan Stump, Annabelle, Olivia and Daxton Morris, and Owen and Avery Winn. Jim will also be remembered by his sister, Janet Charter, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation hours will be at Martenson's Funeral Home in Trenton on Monday, December 10, from 2 PM – 8 PM. A funeral service and celebration of his life will be on Tuesday, December 11, at 11 AM at The Apostolic Church of Flat Rock, 24550 Gibraltar Road | Flat Rock, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorial donations be made to the: •Beaumont HospiceFisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation

My condolences for your loss. We were across the street neighbors, my mom and dad (Jim and Norma Barrett) were good friends with Jim and Doreen. Linda was a neighborhood friend of mine. Peace be with all of you.

A wonderful friend and neighbor of 38 yrs. Jim and Doreen have undoubtedly been the most generous and loved couple in the neighborhood, always ready to lend a helping hand to everybody.
