James O. McNeal, 78 of Kountze, Texas passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
James Oulisey McNeal, Jr. was born to the late James Oulisey McNeal, Sr. and RosaLee Gilder McNeal on May 1, 1947, in Kountze, Texas, and peacefully departed this life on November 11, 2025.
He worked as a city employee for the City of Kountze for five years before serving the City of Silsbee for twenty-eight years, where he remained until his retirement.
James enjoyed the simple pleasures of life-fishing, playing dominos, hunting, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. He attended CW Carver in Kountze, where he built lasting memories and friendships.
On March 17, 1980, James married Oretha Haynes McNeal in Kountze, Texas, and together they shared many years of love and companionship.
Cherished in his memory are his devoted wife, Oretha Haynes McNeal, and his loving family. He is remembered by his sister Linda McCray of Beaumont, Texas; Also holding him dear are his children; Tracy Williams and Daniel of Liberty, Texas; Jamie McNeal of Kountze, Texas; James McNeal, Ill and Tracie of Kountze, Texas; Danny Roberson of Kountze, Texas; Cory Roberson and Mable of Beaumont, Texas; and David Roberson and Julie of Beaumont, Texas; Tina Roberson and Edgar of Beaumont, Texas; Lonnie Sumlin and Tammy of Salt Lake City; Yolanda Sumlin of Silsbee, Texas; and Wendy McNeal of
Woodville, Texas.
He leaves behind a beautiful legacy through his grandchildren: Henry Dill, Jr. and Tiffany, Randall Dill, Derranitra Dill, Symone Carmenar, Terrell Cannon, Damien McNeal, Kelcie Haynes, James McNeal, IV, John McNeal, Jalea McNeal, Lonieshia Sumlin, Keeven Sumlin, Mya Sumlin, and Tyrese Sumlin. His joy expanded with the blessing of eleven great-grandchildren who brought warmth and happiness to his life.
James is preceded in death by his father James O. McNeal, Sr., mother Rosalee Gilder McNeal, brother John Hebert McNeal, and sister Lois Hubbard. He is also remembered with love by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
