Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions - Beavercreek ChapelJames "Jim" Lawrence Meyers Sr., age 81 of Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away November 2, 2025 He was born March 12, 1944 in Lonaconing, Maryland, the son of the late John Frederick and Mary Josephine (McGann) Meyers. Jim grew up and raised his children in Midland, Maryland.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Jean "Jeanie" (Devlin) Meyers; sister, Margaret "Margie" Rymer and her husband, Gary; brothers, Jack Meyers and his wife, Marg and Fred Meyers; brothers-in-law, Frank Gavin, John Mertz and Bill "Smitty" Smith; nephews, Francis and Michael Mertz; niece, Margie "Scooter" Meyers and great nephew, Jack Mertz; mother and father-in-law, Jean and Daniel Devlin; beloved grandparents-in-law, Adele “Nana” (Reed) Angle and William “Pappy” Angle.
Jim is survived by his children, James L. Meyers, Jr (Becky), Joe Meyers (Jeff McCann), Janice Myers (Mike) and Jennifer Sciple (Jerry); 12 grandchildren, Mikhaila Myers Leffler, Michael (Madisyn), Nicholas, William, Olivia, Alexandra (Aria), Cecilia (Fred), Havilah and John Frederick Myers, Blake Meyers, Katelyn (Jeremiah) Kirby and Christopher Sciple; 7 great-grandchildren, Owen, Theo, Michael, Fox, Rosemary, Haven, and Cassian; siblings, Joan Gavin, Mary Anne Mertz and Francis Meyers (Mary Anne); and sisters-in-law, Carol Ritchie, Karen Dixon and Lana Meyers. He leaves behind many other beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
The Family would like to extend a special thank you to his dear friend, Sheila Kwest and Jeff McCann, for all of their care and assistance. They would also like to thank the caring staff at Bethany Village, Centerville, Ohio that made all the difference in the world.
Jim graduated from St Joseph's Grade School in Midland then La Salle High School class of 1962 in Cumberland, Maryland. He was a past President of the Midland Fire Company 18, where he organized their Thursday Bingo and met the love of his life, Jeanie Devlin. They were married on September 4, 1965 and were longtime members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He worked for People's Drugstore in LaVale, A&P Market in Lonaconing, Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Cumberland and was later transferred to Goodyear, where he later retired. In his free time, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering in his workshop. He remained a passionate Pittsburgh Steelers and Notre Dame fan despite relocating to Topeka, Kansas. He took pride in his elaborate yard displays for Christmas and often competed and placed in the Topeka Christmas Decorating Contest. In his later years, he would never be seen in public without his cowboy hat. Jim loved joking around and would often say, "Be safe, have fun, and don't get caught".
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Divine Mercy Parish or Midland Fire Company, 14823 Broadway Avenue SW, Midland, MD 21532 in Jim’s honor.
A Funeral Service for Jim and Jeanie will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Michael Catholic Church (44 E Main St, Frostburg, MD 21532). They will be laid to rest at St. Michael Cemetery following the Mass. A funeral luncheon will follow inurnment at St. Michael's Church.
