James M. Montgomery

James Morley Montgomery, a man who never met a stranger, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the 15th of March, 2026, leaving behind a community of friends and a family who loved him deeply.

Born to Richard M. and Joy G. Montgomery, James grew up in the constant company of his brothers - a childhood filled with play, laughter, and the bonds that would last a lifetime. James built a life defined by honest work and genuine connection. Over the years he drove semi for Copps Food, worked alongside his uncle Buzz at K&L Office Equipment, and discovered a true gift in woodworking - a craft he pursued with skill and quiet pride. Whatever he turned his hands to, he gave it his best.

Outside of work, James was happiest near the water with a fishing line in hand, though he was equally at home in a deer stand come hunting season, in the company of family or friends. He enjoyed traveling - visiting family around the state and friends in California, making a memorable trip to Ireland, and returning to Canada several times. In retirement, he found a second home at the Moose Lodge in Green Bay, where good friends and good company were always close by. He had a rare quality - the kind of person who ran into someone he knew everywhere he went, and who made a new friend just as easily. Always ready with a smile and a goofy or sarcastic joke, he was the first to offer help to anyone who needed it.

He is survived by Debi Lundberg, his longtime partner and soulmate; his son, Brent (Monica) Montgomery; and his brothers, John McNeal Montgomery and Richard George Montgomery.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at the Lyndahl Funeral Home. The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday from 3 pm until the time of the services at 5 pm. Burial of his remains will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Briggsville, WI at a later date.
