James L. Moss, son to Lawson Moss, Sr., and Lucy Willis Pettus, began his earthly journey on January 31, 1934 in Clarksville, Tennessee. His grandson, Montavious "DaShaun" Talley, granddaughter, Nicole Blocker, great-grandson, Briareus Ladon Thomas, parents, sister, Virginia Ann Vanleer and brother, Lawson Moss, Jr., preceded him in death.Viewing Saturday, October 29, 2022 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at Foston Funeral Home. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Foston Funeral Home. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Boiling Springs Baptist Church. James was educated in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. He enjoyed employed with a number of companies in the Clarksville and surrounding area. "Whiskey" as he was affectionately called by family and friends, loved to cook and have barbecues with his son, Rickie, at his home. He was a good cook and made the best collard greens and cornbread. He loved his grandkids and would often be called on to babysit them. He would take them to Burt-Cobb Community Center for different activities. He made sure they were well cared for. Whenever "Whiskey" had questions about his medication or anything, he would say "call my granddaughter, Quita". He would always greet you with a smile and would say "hello darling". Whiskey loved to have a good time and was the life of the party. All who knew and loved him will sorely miss his presence. On Monday, October 17, 2022, James's earthly journey ended peacefully. He leaves to cherish precious memories his son, Rickie Lee Moss, Clarksville, TN; daughters: Deborah Moss, Lake Forest, CA, Vinita Moss, Kimberly Ligon Moss, both of Clarksville, TN and Vanessa Dianne (Bernard) King, Fayetteville, NC; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, devoted friend, Ruthie Osborne and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
