James Mrozek Obituary

Published by Schielka Addison Street on Nov. 12, 2017.
James Patrick Mrozek was born on March 17, 1939 and he passed away November 12, 2017 at the age of 78 years of age. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years Patricia (Boyle) Mrozek, Sons Leo, and his wife Dana, James, Martin, and his Daughter Kristine. He was the beloved Grandfather of Adam, Michael, Steven, and Robert. James was a Member of the Chicago Fire Department starting his career in 1966 and was assigned to Engine 124 where he spent his entire career there until his retirement in 1999 where he completed 33 years of service. He battled a lot of fires all those years with his fellow Firefighters and they always won doing what they needed to do and then returned to quarters getting the Engine ready to go battle the next fire. He risked his life for other's battling these fires going in knowing the dangers that he faced while inside doing what needed to be done and always walked out. He then faced the biggest battle of his life coming down with Leukemia and he was in a fight for his life with other's now helping him to win this battle. He was always in good spirits and unless he told you that he had this you never would have known. With all the dangers he faced battling and fighting all these fires this was his final battle of his life he did not walk out from. He was also an Electrician while on the Fire Department and had many talents knowing plumbing, carpentry, and basically everything where he could remodel and fix almost anything. He would always so kind hearted he would help anyone that needed help with something and always have time for them to go fix or do whatever they needed to be done to help them out. No matter what problem someone had with their house he would always know the answer to correct it and fix it to help them out. He never asked anyone for anything doing all these things for them except to make a pot of coffee or have his favorite soda which was Pepsi. He spent a lot of his life going to Tomahawk Wisconsin loving to fish and after his retirement he purchased a house up there shortly after that to spend his summers at enjoying what he loved to do. Of course the home he purchased he remodeled from top to bottom to get it just the way he wanted it. He was never a person that would say "no" to anyone no matter how long his day was, how tired or worn out he was. If you called him with a problem he would help you out over the phone or he was packing up some tools and on his way over. James will be missed tremendously by his Family and all his Friends due to the kind hearted person he was always putting other's first. He was the last surviving sibling and is now reunited with his Parent's, his two Sister's Arlene and Cindy, his Brother Tom and they are all back together again. Memorial visitation Saturday December 2 2017 from 9 AM until time of service at 12 Noon at the Schielka Addison Street Funeral Home.

I have so many fond memories of Dad. He was an kind, caring loving person.Always willing to help. It's who he was.

Some of the fondest times I remember were fishing in Wisconsin and playing cards with the family. I am so very sorry for your loss. The world was definitely a far better place because he was in it. I will miss him.

I remember Jimmy working for my parents. He definitely could fix anything and he did a lot of remodeling for them, as well as being a great electrician. I am so sorry for your family's loss. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

He worked in the same house with my Father "Tony" McGill who spent 17 of his 28 years on the job in that house, my oldest son John McGill was also assigned to 124 when he came on the job 18 years ago, and is still a Chicago Fireman.

God Rest your soul. Sorry for your families loss, and God Bless ALL of you also.

Marty and the entire Mrozek family,
My sincere condolences for the passing of your father. I admired Jim in so many ways. He was great to work with. Great fireman, great go-to guy, Mr. fix-it. But the word that most comes to mind is gentleman. Jim was a gentleman in every sense of the word. As I will be out of town for the services, rest assured Jim will be in my thoughts, and the Mrozek family will be in my prayers.

Dad,

I Love and Miss you so much and there are no words that could ever express how much you mean to me.

I have learned so many things in my life that you have taught me with all the things we have done together, along with all the talks we had and I owe all that to you.

Whenever I had a question you always knew the answer, just like whenever I needed help with something you were always there for me.

A lot of times people have told me you are a lot like your Father and I know the person I am today is all because of you.

If God would have given me a choice to pick who my Father would be the day I was born it would have been you.

I will always miss you and think about you, but I know inside my heart you are still by my side just like you have always been since the day I was born.
