James E. Nelson passed away on May 8, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on February 12, 1947, in Cambridge, MA. Jim's passion for child development led him to earn a Master's degree in the field from University of Pittsburgh. Years later, he had a successful career as a financial advisor, where he applied his knowledge and expertise for many years. Most recently, he was employed at Veteran's Inc. as a recovery specialist.

Throughout his life, Jim was known for his vibrant personality. He approached every endeavor with enthusiasm and a thirst for learning. His sense of humor and encouragement uplifted those around him and left a lasting impact on everyone he met. In his leisure time, Jim indulged in various hobbies such as dancing, horseback riding, and archery, showcasing his diverse interests and adventurous spirit.

Above all else, Jim cherished spending time with his family and friends. He found joy in their company and treasured the moments shared with each of them. Jim's memory will live on through the love and fond memories he created with his loved ones.

Jim is survived by his daughters Kristie Smith (and her husband, Tim), Lisa Harrigan (and her husband, Joseph), nine grandchildren, and his brother Robert Nelson. 

Services to honor and celebrate Jim's life will take place at the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel in Worcester on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a memorial service beginning at 5:30 PM.
