James "Cotton" Nipper

James Randal "Cotton" Nipper, age 80, passed away October 07, 2025, at Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Bacon County on August 11, 1945, to the late Franklin E. Nipper and Dorothy Mae Harris Nipper. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann Nipper; his granddaughter, Yanci Nipper; brothers, Franklin, Jr. and Bobby Nipper; sisters, Ann Bazemore, Patsy Ruis, Gloria Nipper, Illa Jean Taylor, Nell Morrison, Shirley Chancey, and Betty Hood.

He retired as a long-time member of Local 508 and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sons, Tony Nipper (Sonya) of Alma, Mark Nipper (Marie) of Alma, and Ken Nipper (Trish) of Daytona, FL; daughter, TinaCravey (Jeff) of Blackshear; brother, Ronnie Nipper (Sheryl) of Baxley. Fifteen grandchildren, Abby Nipper Morris (Dustin), Klein Nipper (Kaylee), Jolie Nipper, Britney Hamilton, Kelsey Nipper, Lane Nipper, Carson Nipper (Edy), Kaylee and Allie Cravey, Halle Crook (Chad), Jansen Nipper, Ryder Nipper, Steele Brantley, and James Hardwick; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2025, in the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home at 2 P.M. with Rev. George Moxley and Rev. Jimmy Miles officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 1P.M. until service time.

Active pallbearers include Robby Ruis, Michael Ruis, David Trowell, Dustin Morris, Bradley Knowlton, and James Hardwick.

Honorary pallbearers include members of Local 508.
