James Nizolek Obituary
May 29, 1940 - April 19, 2025
James (Jim) Nizolek, 84, a resident of Stamford, CT, and Cape Coral, FL, passed away on April 19th surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May, 29, 1940, in Stamford, CT. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Donna, and parents, George and Lillian Nizolek.
Jim was born and raised in Stamford and graduated from Stamford High School. He started Laurel Hill Landscaping in 1962 with his wife, Donna. Over the years, he expanded into Laurel Hill Septic Systems, Laurel Hill Homes and now Laurel Hill Inc with his son-in-law Paul. He worked until his retirement in 2013 and retired to Cape Coral, FL, until his return to Stamford in 2024.
He is survived by his daughters Traci (Paul) Skiadas of Stamford, CT, and Patricia (Frank) Pokorny of Cape Coral, FL, his grandchildren Paul James (PJ) and Alexi Skiadas, Lisa Pokorny (Jake Couch), Frankie, Christopher and Tyler Pokorny, and great-granddaughter Cora Couch. He is also survived by his sister Barbara (Neil) Rennie and sister-in-law Mildred (Bill) Nizolek, and several nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his brothers Bill, Jack, George and his brother-in-law Neil Rennie Sr.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 25th at Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT, (203)-359-9999 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral will be held on Saturday, April 26th at 11:00 am at Woodland Cemetery, 66 Woodland Place, Stamford, CT 06902.
