James Olson Obituary
James Gary Olson, son of Ben and Mildred (Schwab) Olson was born August 26, 1944 at Lisbon, ND. He graduated from Oakes High School with the class of 1962. After his schooling, Jim farmed in the Crete and Stirum, ND areas. He also served in the National Guard from 1963 to 1969. Jim was united in marriage to Vickie Wille on September 26, 1970 at Crystal, MN. They continued to farm until 1983, when they rented their farm out, and they both furthered their education. Jim attended North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, ND, and graduated in 1986 after completing the Diesel Tech program. Jim then went to work for Titan Machinery in Lisbon until his retirement. Vickie passed away on July 1, 2024.
He is a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oakes. Jim likes any kind of woodworking. He also enjoys doing yard work, which is the closest thing to farming in town.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Olson, ND; his son, Harold (Theresa) Olson, FL; two granddaughters, Rebecca (Matt) Weaber, FL and Victoria (Justin) Carlock, FL; great grandbabies, Teddy, Gigi, Molly and Grayson; and brothers, Dick (Peggy) Olson, ND and Jerry (Julie) Olson, ND.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dennis (Sonja) Olson and Tom Olson; and sister Vivian (John) Larson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Oakes. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Oakes View Cemetery near Oakes. Jim's service will be live streamed below.
