James Osborne Obituary

James "Jim" David Osborne

August 26, 1950 - August 29, 2025

James "Jim" David Osborne, 75, of Concord, N.C., passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Cabarrus on Friday, August 29, 2025, surrounded by love.

A service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 2 p.m., at Central United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Stacey Lundy and Rev. Andy Langford. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Coltrane Room at Central UMC beginning at 3 p.m.

The service will be livestreamed at the following link:https://www.youtube.com/@CentralUMCConcord

Born in Jonesboro, Tennessee, on August 26, 1950, Jim was the son of the late Mara Leonard Osborne and James Niles Osborne. He graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1972 with a B.S. in Environmental Health and went on to dedicate his professional life to the field, retiring as a Registered Environmental Specialist with the Cabarrus Health Alliance.

Jim was a devoted husband to Ann Shepherd Osborne, with whom he shared a loving and fulfilling marriage. Together, they built a life rich in family, friendship, and memories. He was a proud father to Beth Allen and a deeply cherished grandfather to his granddaughter, Campbell Allen, who was his greatest joy. Trips to the family's beach condo, trips to Hawaii, a treasured cross-country road trip during COVID, and travel abroad to Europe and the Caribbean were among the many adventures that brought Jim happiness and created lasting memories with those he loved most.

A member of Central United Methodist Church for over 40 years, Jim lived out his faith through service and fellowship. He was an active participant in Methodist Men, the Christian Fellowship Class, Backpack Buddies, and was often found in the church kitchen, joyfully preparing meals for countless events. His giving spirit extended far beyond the church walls, as he lived each day with kindness, generosity, and a heart for serving others.

Jim was also known for his lifelong love of fitness and the outdoors. He was an avid runner, cyclist, and triathlete, and until 2016, proudly participated in the 24 Hours of Booty cycling event, combining his passion for endurance sports with his commitment to charitable causes. Beyond his athletic pursuits, Jim loved cooking, savoring good meals and fine wine and spirits, and traveling with family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Ann S. Osborne; his daughter, Bethany O. Allen and her husband, Charlton, of Mooresville; his granddaughter, Campbell Allen; his sister, Elizabeth "Betsy" Osborne of Gray, Tenn.; and his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church- Backpack Buddies, 30 Union Street N., Concord, N.C. 28025, or the 24 Foundation, P.O. Box 31007, Charlotte, N.C. 28231, organizations that reflect Jim's heart for service and community.
