James “Jimmy” Parker of Summertown passed away peacefully at home on May 31, 2025. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a man whose quiet strength and unwavering honesty touched the lives of all who knew him.

Born to Walter and Loreen Parker, both of whom preceded him in death, Jimmy lived a life defined by service, integrity, and generosity. He also mourned the loss of his beloved daughter, Susan Parker, whose memory he held close to his heart.

Jimmy is survived by his cherished wife of 59 years, Carolyn Parker, whose companionship and love were the steady center of his life. He leaves behind three children: daughters Marsha Britton and Angela Loreen Rikard, and his son, James D. Parker Jr. (Kaytee), each of whom carry forward his legacy of strength and sincerity. He leaves behind nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later continued his commitment to public service with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina, working both as a deputy officer and detective. His dedication extended to the community through volunteer work with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), where he formed lasting friendships with fellow servicemen and women.

An avid fisherman, Jimmy especially enjoyed bass fishing and took pride in his well-loved collection of rods and reels. He found peace and patience in quiet mornings on the water, just as he found joy in the roar of a motorcycle engine or the worn pages of a Louis L’Amour western.

Jimmy was a no-nonsense man who valued truth, respect, and kindness. He believed in doing right by others and had a way of making those around him feel seen and supported. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—a good book, a good ride, a quiet evening with westerns on the television—and he shared those moments generously with family and friends.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and forever remembered for the love he gave, the service he rendered, and the life he lived with quiet dignity
