James Parlee Obituary
Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late William and Rita (Fontenault) Parlee. Jim was a veteran serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969. Prior to retirement, Jim worked for Local #40 Sheet Metal workers for over forty years. Jim enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching car racing, and going to lunch with his best friend Don McCann.
Along with his wife, Jim is survived by his son Keith Parlee, sister-in-law Gail Visone, brothers-in-law Nick Visone and Larry Placchino and several nieces and nephews. He adored the family dog Cassie who made his last days brighter.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, August 5 th from 10:30 to 11:30 am at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell. A private burial will be held in the State Veterans Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim's memory may be made to Folds of Honor or Animal Rescue of the donor's choice. To share memories or send condolences to the family, please visit

Jimmy is my brother in law but he is also my friend. My heart goes out to my sister Laura and my nephew Keith especially as well as to all his family and friends. Jimmy was always a hard working man and a genuinely kind person. He treated me as his own sister. I trusted him as my older brother. He always watched out for me and made sure I was following the right path. I miss him and love him. I know he will rest in eternal peace and suffer no more. I am so thankful and proud to have known this distinguished soldier, son, husband , father, brother and friend! He will live on in our hearts.
