James Perron Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Family Life Funeral Homes - Sault Sainte Marie (formerly Clark Hovie Galer on Feb. 10, 2026.
It is with grieving hearts that we share the news of James Clifford Perron's passing on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Jim, as he was known to all that loved him, was born on June 6, 1965, to Sylvia (Smart) Perron and Theophile (Clifford) Perron, joining his two older brothers Reid and Larry Perron.
Jim and his family lived on the 'compound' on Smart Road in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Surrounded by family, and in close proximity to the nearby gravel pit, Jim and his brothers developed their love for dirtbikes and snowmobiles at a very young age.
Jim's youth found him working with his dad and brothers building, repairing, and painting automobiles in the family's garage. Learning to weld was also a necessity growing up and became Jim's vocation, obtaining employment at Oloffson Fabrication and subsequently at MCM Marine as a certified Welder and Fabricator until his early retirement in 2019.
Jim had a special fondness for the German Shepherd dog breed, raising many from pups. Losing his four-legged family members was never easy for him, but knowing they will all be bursting through the Pearly Gates to welcome Jim home is a comfort to all who knew and loved him.
Whether walking along the beach, swimming in Lake Superior or sitting by a campfire, the Perron property in Brimley was Jim's favorite place to spend time with family.
In addition to Jim's other talents, his culinary prowess in the kitchen was a well-kept secret, known by only those close to him. Although his wife Patti would often comment that Jim "used every pan in the house" when he cooked, the end result would over-shadow the mess left behind. He excelled at so many various cuisines, it's hard to choose what stood out the most.
Left behind to mourn Jim's death is his wife and soulmate of forty-one years, Patti (Patricia DePlonty) Perron; his pride and joy, daughter, Christina (Mike) Dolkey, the light of his life, grandson, Mason Dolkey; brothers, Reid (Rochelle) Perron and Larry (Mary) Perron; brothers-in-law, Carl (Sandy) DePlonty, Tom (Jolene) DePlonty, Jim (Cathy) DePlonty and Dave (Connie) DePlonty; nieces and nephews, Melanie (Tim) McBride, Jake (Melissa)Perron, Tyler (Kali) Perron, Noelle (Nick McKenzie) Perron, Hailey (Denver) Pearce, Brian (Yvette) DePlonty, Alexia (Justin) Jarvi, Dana (DJ) Mansfied, Kaitlyn (Zach) Hommer, Jenna (Tim) Peterson, Madison (Jose Arreola) DePlonty, Matt (Cassie Hodges) DePlonty and Nick (Lisa Casselman) DePlonty; numerous great nieces and nephews; the family's German Shepherd, Loki; and grand-dog, Remi.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, T. Clifford and Sylvia Perron; mother-in-law, Ruby (Reid) DePlonty; and father-in-law Wallace DePlonty.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Soo Township Hall, 639 3 1/2 Mile Rd., Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783.
