James E. "Jody" Pierce Sr.

1944 - 2024

James "Jody" E. Pierce, Sr., 1944 - 2024, James entered eternal rest at the age of 79, on Saturday, January 13, 2024. James was born in New Orleans, LA and lived there until he was called home to be with his Lord. He was educated in the New Orleans Parish Public School System while attending Thomy Lafon Elementary, Carter G. Woodson Junior High, and Booker T. Washington High School. James was trained in the family business by his father. His verbose nature served him well as a salesman of periodicals. As a result, he was frequently rewarded for his work. James is survived by four adult children: Jerome C. Pierce, Sr., James E. Pierce, Jr., Gina C. Pierce Johnson, and William K. Pierce, Sr. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one godchild, and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruth Pierce, two brothers: Nelson J. Pierce, Sr., and Kenneth E. Pierce, Sr., three sisters: Carolyn E. Pierce, Janice E. Pierce, and Paulette E. Pierce Billy, and one daughter, Nina Ann Pierce. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, January 27, 2024, for 10:00 a.m. at First Zion Baptist Church, 1221 South Causeway Blvd., Jefferson, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Anthony A. Pierce, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, 3540 US-90, Avondale, LA 70094.
