James Warren Porterfield

James Porterfield, born on May 15, 1955, passed away on September 25, 2025, at the age of 70. His life was marked by a deep passion for classic cars and a dedicated career as a lifelong auto mechanic. James found joy in the intricate workings of engines and the timeless beauty of vintage automobiles.

Beyond his work, James was an avid supporter of UNC and a devoted fan of NASCAR, often spending weekends immersed in the excitement of the races. His love for these pursuits was well-known among those who knew him best.

James was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Fannie and Claude Porterfield, his brother Arthur Thomas Porterfield, and his nephew Michael "Tommy" Porterfield.

He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his daughters Laurie Condoret and her husband Philippe, and Tabitha Henderson and her husband Randy. He was a proud grandfather to John Johnson, Chelsey Gobert, Austin Henderson, and Cole Henderson, and a great-grandfather to Noah Johnson. He is also survived by his brother, Kenny Porterfield (Shirley), and sister Virginia Graves. James is also survived by several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

James Porterfield's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever hold dear the memories of his warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication to the things he loved most.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
