It has been over 50 years (early 1960s) since I've seen or heard of my old friend, Jim Pouch, but the sight of his obituary today awakened many old, fond memories. Jim and I became close friends in a tight-knit group with other guys in our class at St. Peter's School who lived in and around the Holla": Larry Mate, Howard Fisher, Ray Niebrydowski, Terry Ketter, Brad Hart, John McGough and others. We played baseball and enjoyed many memorable games together with the famed Holla' Hawks on Kollar Field. He was a good first-baseman, and threw a knuckleball and off-speeds as a pretty good pitcher. We drifted apart as we moved into our high school years and lost touch with each other after a while. I still remember Jim Pouch as an exceedingly quiet, very good looking and very bright person, when you could get him to talk. We became pretty close because of our intelligence and tendency to have discussions on weighty subjects. I don't know much about him and his life after we lost touch, but I will always remember him fondly, along with the others in our group, and the great times that we had together on Kollar Field, in the Holla' and at St. Peter's. The guys in our group were the best friends that I ever had, and Jim was a big part of those good times. I'm not sure that I've ever met any of you personally, although I was aware that he had an older brother. I just wanted you to know that I remember Jim fondly as a good, good guy and friend, and extend my condolences for your loss.
