Mr. James "Sonnie" Proctor of Tampa, FL passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive AME Church, 1902 W. Lasalle Street, Tampa, FL 33607 with Dr. Helen L. Johnson-Ford, Officiaiting. Interment will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513.
Mr. James "Sonnie" Proctor was a native of Tampa, Florida. He attended schools in Georgia and was a member of Mt. Olive AME Church. He served in the United State Army from 1946-1949 and was a part of World War II. His profession was Commercial Shrimp Boating.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Pearlie Mae Proctor; parents, Frank and Corrine Proctor.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Robert Johnson II; daughter-in-law, Joy Johnson; daughter, Gail Jones; daughter-in-law, Claudette Jones; grandchildren, Cleopatra Harrington (Dana), Lateca Simmons-Johnson (Quartures), Shaw Johnson (Antenette), Terraiya Johnson, Robert Johnson III (Alya), Tammy Harris, and Carlos Battle (Chlisa); great grandchildren, Cornell Martin Jr, Dana Jr., Davontae, Deontae, Drew Harrington, Shawnice Johnson, and Quincy Simmons; nephew, Alfonso Thomas; cousins, Dr. Mikki Chambers (Herb), Ivan Gay (Marcia), Gloria Sims (Clarence), Y'yony Redd (James), K'Asony, Q'uony, and Elmore Jr.; sisters, Verdell "Baby" Golphin, Luberta Mitchell, and Myrtle "Daughter" Proctor; nieces and nephews, Lucinda Graham, Carolyn Jones, Enoch Golphin Jr., Eugene Golphin, James Golphin, Richard Golphin, Nancy Mae Blackmon, Tippy Golphin (deceased), Cora Mae Floyd (deceased), Crawford "Sammie" Mitchell (Linda), James "Wilson" Mitchell (Brenda), Rosa Mitchell (deceased), Mamie Quarterman, Johnnie Heck (Bill), Pearl Britt (Willard), and Rev. Michael Rivers (Joann); a host of other relatives, Dawne Hill (Robert), Vanessa Adams, Lynette Forte Reed -deceased (Robin), Waynel Forte; and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Mt. Olive AME Church, 1902 W. Lasalle Street, Tampa, FL 33607 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
