James Kenneth "Kenny" Quarles, age 64, a beloved father and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025. He was born on August 21, 1961, in Marietta, Georgia, to the late Hubert Quarles Jr. and Sarah Elizabeth Quarles. Kenny lived a life filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments.
Kenny was known for his easygoing, fun-loving spirit. He loved basketball and played point guard, showing both talent and passion for the game. He was also a devoted football fan, especially of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Music and dancing were close to his heart and brought joy to everyone around him. Though shy in his younger years, Kenny later became the life of the party, drawing people in with his warm personality and infectious smile.
A true jack-of-all-trades, Kenny worked in construction for many years at Leeds, where he mastered a wide range of skills on the job site. He also took on side jobs painting and later shared his friendly charm at Sam's Club, where he enjoyed handing out samples and chatting with customers.
In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Quarles, and his sister, Sue Davis.
He is survived by the love of his life, Lisa Quarles; his daughter, Ashley (Michael) Hutchings; grandchildren, Kenzley Hutchings and Michael Hutchings Jr.; stepsons, Wesley (Kayla) Staton and Kenneth (Emmy) Staton Jr.; step-grandchildren, Brooks Staton, Bo Staton, and Ronnie Rebecca Staton; and sisters, Brenda Graham, Lennie Collins, Glenda Sharp, and Renee Quarles. Family meant everything to Kenny, and he especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren, whether coloring or simply enjoying each other's company.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Sam Clark Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, with Brother Peter Harris and Jimmy Dean Chotas officiating.
In honor of his vibrant spirit, all who knew Kenny are invited to share stories, laughter, and love as we say goodbye to a truly special person.
