James Lloyd Rackley Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on September 7, 1963, in Memphis, TN, James spent his formative years in the vibrant city before making his home in Ellabell, GA, where he built a life full of love, family, and cherished memories.
In his professional life, James dedicated over a decade as a maintenance planner with Fort James, where he was known for his keen skills and steadfast work ethic. He also served his country with pride and honor as a member of the U.S. Army, embodying the virtues of strength and service that defined his life.
James was deeply passionate about the outdoors, and as an honorary member of the Lewis Hunting Club, he cherished the times spent in nature. Whether he was hunting, riding his trike, or enjoying the laughter of his grandchildren, his love of life was evident to all who knew him.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Carol Lynn Winskie Rackley, whose unwavering support was the foundation of their enduring marriage. James was a devoted father to his two children, James (Trey) Rackley, III., and his wife Lindsey of Ellabell, and Reba Marie McCook and her husband Stephen of Glennville. He delighted in his role as a grandfather to Braelynn, Blakely, and Emmett, whose lives he enriched with his wisdom and warm-hearted spirit. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who admired and loved him dearly.
James was preceded in death by his father, James Lloyd Rackley Sr., and his mother, Tommie Gean Rackley, who no doubt welcomed him into God's embrace.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held the following day, Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Lower Black Creek Cemetery, where James will be laid to rest surrounded by the serenity he loved.
