James Redford

James Allen Redford, age 82, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026.

He was born on May 20, 1943, to the late German Lee Redford and Vernis Thompson Redford. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his life partner of 24 years Karen J. Tidwell Redford; his brother, Glen Redford; his sister, Emilie Dewesse; his stepson, Johnny Gentry; and his nephew, Michael Dennison.

James was a lifelong farmer and he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze service stars and the Vietnam Campaign Medal in recognition of his honorable and faithful service.

He is survived by his son, Dewayne Redford; his sister, Mabel Ann Johnson (Harold); his stepdaughter, Melissa Barton; his stepson, Justin Tidwell (Maggie); his step-grandson, Griffin Shirley (Natalie); and his step–great-granddaughter, Jaz'Lyn Johnson; Four nieces Melissa Brown (Jayson), Karen Sherfey, Lori Mutter (Bennie), and Tara Johnson. His little dog Salem, along with extended family and friends also survive.

Inurnment and Navy Honors will be Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in Bowling Green Gardens
