James A. Rediger, 92, of rural Washburn Illinois, died on April 1, 2025 at OSF Richard L Owens Hospice Home in Peoria Illinois. Born on April 13, 1932 in Richland Township, Marshall County Illinois to the late Clark and Ruth (Hahn) Rediger, he married Patricia Joyce Herbert on April 30, 1966 in Toluca. Patricia passed on April 21, 2005.
James is survived by his sons James P Rediger & Eric Rediger of Washburn; daughters Paula Rediger of Plano Illinois & Pamela McPherson of Santa Fe New Mexico; Brothers Perry (Patricia) Rediger of Virginia Beach Virginia, Lynn (Wilda) Rediger of Washburn; sister Susan Loser of Lacon; grandchildren David Rediger of Florida, John Rediger, Jamie Rediger, & Anna Rediger of Henry; Jennifer Wierzbiki, Jessica Wierzbiki, & Andrew Wierzbiki all of Plano, Benjamin McPherson & Julian McPherson both of New Mexico; and three great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother Robert "Bob" Rediger
Jim served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked for Caterpillar for over 36 years, starting as a sweeper sweeping the floors in East Peoria building X. From there, he entered management training and became supervisor for assembling the lines to build the Caterpillar tractors. Jim later managed facilities in East Peoria, Aurora, and Mossville. He was a standing member of the Lacon Congregational Church, Fox Valley Society of industrial engineers and their past president, and Spring Bay American Legion Post 1115.
Cremation rights have been accorded, and a memorial service for Jim will be held Monday, April 14 at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon at 11 AM with visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorials can be made to the Spring Bay American Legion Post 1115 or Saint Jude. Online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com.
