James R. Reterstoff

Jim Reterstoff, age 81, passed away peacefully with his loving wife and his daughter Vicki and son Thomas by his side at Fairmont Village Memory Care in Peoria, Arizona on October 22, 2025.

He was born to Leon Lester Reterstoff and Anna (Durn) Reterstoff on March 5,1944 in Muskegon Michigan where he was raised. Shortly after high school he proudly served in the US Army. He retired from Dana Corporation in Automotive Maintenance in 2006 for 41 years. He also was the director on the Board at FFCU for some time. On February 11, 2006, he married Linda Marie (Sprague) Reterstoff. They relocated to Sun City West, AZ, where he wanted to be near his brother Dick. He enjoyed working at the Golf course and volunteered at Spring Training Baseball as club house security for 19 years. Jim and his wife Linda were blessed with 20 plus years of making beautiful memories.

He loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing, hiking, golfing, music, dancing, and traveling. He just loved life. He coached baseball and football when his children were growing up. He had a great sense of humor and his SMILE lit up a room! He was a hard worker but always found time to help someone in need. Jim was a devoted husband and devoted father to his daughter Vicki and son Thomas (TJ).

He is survived by his wife Linda Reterstoff, daughter Vicki Marie Holaday and son Thomas James Reterstoff; sister Eileen Bannon and brother in law Michael; Step children Patricia van Burkel, Donnie Brems and Jason Brems; Brother in law Jim, Kenny and Larry; nieces and nephews; his cat Tinkerbell; eleven grandkids: Brandon, Brittany, Amanda, Nicole, Carlos, Taylor, Tobin, Calli, Colton, Taylor and Jake; and four great grandkids: Noah, Wesley, Maddie and Blake.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Anna Reterstoff, siblings Leon, Barb, Eddie, Dick, Robert and Nancy.

Jim's Celebration of Life will be at Lakeside Veterans Club, 1777 Lakeshore Drive, Muskegon Michigan on November 30, 2025 from 3 pm to 6 pm. There will be a slide show of his life well lived and his favorite songs, food and desserts arranged by Jim's daughter Vicki and son Thomas.
