James “Crandall” Riffe passed away peacefully November 3, 2025, a few days before his 95th birthday.
After 20 years in the coal mines in Gary, West Virginia, Crandall moved his family to Colorado, where he retired as an electrical maintenance supervisor from the Coors Brewery. He loved his family, camping, fishing, woodworking, and could fix anything we managed to break. A day never went by that you didn’t hear Bluegrass playing in the background of his home somewhere.
Crandall served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean war. He was based in several locations, including Okinawa, Japan.
Crandall is preceded in death by his loving wife and high school sweetheart Don Jean “Dean”, parents Nancy and Harve and brother and sister, Don and Atalee. He leaves behind daughters, Trish and Tammy, grandson, Noah, great granddaughter Tessa, caregiver and friend Nita and a long list of nieces and nephews. He has left a void in our hearts and lives that can never be filled, and we find much comfort in the fact that he is now with Don Jean. He will be greatly missed by many.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, https://diabetes.org
