James Timothy Rodgers, age 76, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 2:30 P.M. in the Chapel of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home, with Mr. Albert Campbell officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home from 1:30 P.M. until the service hour at 2:30 P.M.
Mr. Rodgers was born in Jackson, TN, on April 19, 1948, to the late James Fred Rodgers and Myrtle Louise Boykin Swan. He proudly served his Country as a Corporal with the U.S. Marine Corps, receiving the Purple Heart during the Vietnam War. Mr. James worked as a traveling nurse for many years, working in Utah, Philadelphia, and lastly in Milan, TN. He was also preceded in death by one brother: Cecil Alvin Tippett.
He is survived by his wife of over 25 years: Mary Elizabeth Parker Bridgewater Rodgers of Brownsville, TN; one son: Lucas Fisher of Brownsville, TN; three daughters: Charlotte Bridgewater of Brownsville, TN, Karen Prater (Jerry) of Ripley, TN, Elizabeth Toliver (Kenny) of Horn Lake, MS; one sister: Dorothy Stevens of Jackson, TN; three sisters in law: Angela Marlar (Harold) of Brownsville, TN, Shirley Huddleston of Ripley, MS, Paulette Campbell (Albert) of Arlington, TN; one brother in law: Mike Parker (Peggy) of Ripley, MS; one nephew: Gerald Glen “Bo” Rodgers; He leaves a legacy of five grandchildren: Shay, James, Marshall, Bobbi, Dylan; and nine great-grandchildren: Tyler, Colton, Braxton, Jaiden, Jackson, Harrison, Karson, Allison and Aiden.
All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
