James H. "Jim" Roland

James "Jim" H. Roland, 95, of Cynthiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at his home. He was born on February 24, 1930, in Cochran, Georgia to the late J.T. Roland (Alice) and Jimmie Mullis Hoover (Harry). Besides his parents he had two sisters who have preceded him in death, Roberta Roland Boles of Louisiana, and Joyce Roland Turner of Norfolk, Virginia.
He liked fishing, bird hunting, and cooking. He also loved coaching the youth of Harrison County baseball and liked playing golf with friends. He also loved watching football, basketball, baseball, and golf.
James was a retired farmer and had retired from the Ladish Corporation in Cynthiana. James also had spent two years in the US Army as a small weapons specialist. After being discharged from the Army he came home with his best friend, Harold Wagner, as well as meeting and marrying the love of his life, Betty Wagner Roland. They were married 76 years, and had four children, Ricci (Brenda) Roland, Beverly Roland, Timmy (Beverly Arnold) Roland, and Phillip (Jennifer) Roland; five grandchildren, Gary (Renee) Roland, Ericcia (Kelly) Briscoe, Chris Roland, Gina Roland, and Michael Roland; and four great-grandchildren, Claire, Abby, and Audrey Roland, and Haylee Briscoe. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Phillip Clay (Brenda) Wagner, and Barbie (Ronnie) Coyle, a special caregiver, Brenda (Steve) Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews. He is loved and will be missed by many.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24th at 1:00 PM at Ware Funeral Home, with an Elks service that will begin just prior to the funeral service. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery.
