James Roose Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Trahan Family Funeral Home - Pensacola on Nov. 16, 2025.
James C. Roose, 69, died of metastatic cancer on November 16, 2025. He was born and raised in Pensacola and attended local schools. He lived most of his adult life in Gulf Breeze and was a career carpenter building homes mostly on Pensacola Beach.

He was preceded in death by parents, Chuck and Ila Roose; and brother, Kendall Roose.

He is survived by his sister, Sandra Ames (Bob); brothers, Charlie Roose (Brenda); and Stanley Roose (Brenda Sullivan); nieces, Kyna Nobles (Bryan), Tonya Duke (Dave), Deanna Lepa (Jeff), Haley Tofe (Rob), Hannah Lilly (Greg), Sharon Sanford (Steve), and Esther Smith (Gary); nephews, Chad Roose, Ryan Roose, and Jonathan Ames (Devan).

Jimmy had a passion and love for fishing. He was known as one of the best and accomplished fishermen in Northwest Florida. He was so good at his sport that he was known at one time as the king of Pensacola Beach Pier. Most of his friends and family, who were down on their luck catching fish, knew that if you invite Jimmy along your luck would surely change. He was that good.

He also had a passion for cats, many cats. When he was a little boy growing up in East Hill, he would always come home on Halloween night with candy in his bag and always a kitten or two. He was a dedicated ""father"" to the furry friends he adopted.

There will be a private family memorial at a later date.

Donations may be made to: A Hope, Inc., an animal health and adoption center,
6951 Pine Blossom Rd., Milton, FL 32570.
